GRAJCZONEK MAX HELPS TAME TIGERS
Sunday August 04, 2013
There is something about Tigers for the Silver Ski Rockets in 2013. The Rockets had already completed a Premier League double over the Sheffield variety, and they completed a similar record – and made it seven wins in seven starts against teams called Tigers in all competitions – with a hard-worked 47-43 victory in Glasgow.

And it was former Glasgow star Josh Grajczonek and guest No.1 who proved the key spark here with a wonderful 15 point maximum that also provided key points at key times.

Swiftly ahead with a 5-1 from the Aussie and Rye captain Jason Bunyan over Joe Screen and Dakota North in the opening race, the Rockets extended their advantage to 19-11 with a similar result from the same pair, this time against Henning Bager, in Heat 5.

The home team gradually pulled back to level the score, only for Grajczonek and Bunyan to give the Hertfordshire side back the lead with a 4-2 either side of James Grieves in Heat 11.

The Rye House guest won again in Heat 13 to keep the Rockets in front at 40-38. Then, after it was Pontus Aspgren and Kasper Lykke’s turn to star with a 4-2 in Heat 14, he completed his full house with a fifth race victory in the nominated heat to ensure the Rockets the overall win.

As a delighted Rye House promoter Len Silver afterwards beamed afterwards, “This was an astonishing victory given the weakness of the side, and one achieved on a very difficult track.

“Our guest, Josh Grajczonek, was totally brilliant, closely followed by Jason Bunyan with a captain’s performance. But all the boys gave their absolute all.

“Now, all we need is to get our named seven back out on the track.”
