SOMERSET 61 ROCKETS 29
Friday June 07, 2013
The Silver Ski Rockets tumbled to easily their heaviest defeat this season against a rampant Somerset outfit that once again looks set to feature prominently in the chase for the Premier League’s championship gold.

A Heat 5 victory from Jason Bunyan aside, it was pretty much one-way traffic in the first half of the match, with the Rebels piling up a 40-16 advantage by Heat 9. Anders Mellgren and Olly Allen helped stem the flow in the closing stages with a couple of race wins apiece, as the home team still sailed past the 60 mark.

As Rye House promoter Len Silver admitted afterwards, “The score pretty much tells you everything you need to know. Jason Bunyan showed some excellent early form before he tired towards the end, but otherwise it took us two-thirds of the match to get into it. We were struggling to get our set-ups right and to get off the starts.”

The Rockets have until June 29th to plot their revenge against the Rebels, who will visit Hertfordshire on that date for the return fixture. They have until only tomorrow (Saturday, June 8th @ 7pm) to regroup, however, as they aim for their first League points of the season in their home opener against Plymouth.
