The BMR Rockets’ Play-Off drive took a major detour as they fell to their heaviest defeat of the season in a 57-33 reverse at Swindon.

The Rockets managed just four race wins – three collected by skipper Scott Nicholls in a top-scoring 9 points, the other by guest Rohan Tungate – and one heat advantage in a one-sided contest as the Robins racked up their seventh straight victory in the SGB Premiership to move into third place in the table.

The Rockets remain in sixth spot, some ten points adrift of Poole who are now fourth on 31 points.

As Rye House Team Manager Peter Schroeck admitted afterwards, “It was very disappointing; I can’t put it any other way.

“Maybe if we had got a result at King’s Lynn (in Wednesday’s postponed match) and Swindon hadn’t come in off the momentum of their victory last night at Poole, it might have been a bit different, but we have no excuses.

“It’s not over yet – we still have twelve matches and forty-one points to go for – and we need to re-group, re-focus and start again.”
